With the Amazon River in the background, more than a thousand indigenous peoples from around the world send a message to "Save the Amazon" in Belem, Brazil, on January 27, 2009, at the start of the World Social Forum. Indigenous leaders warn that the Amazon rainforest is rapidly approching ecological collapse and call upon the world to join them in urgent action to save it.
